The FAI's Executive Council includes franchisors, legal experts and media tycoons who represent the extremely diverse nature of franchising:

Mr. CY Pal: Mr. Pal is a businessman and a professional of great standing in India having worked with Multinational corporations like Hindustan Unilever and Cadbury India for over 40 years in responsible positions including Managing Director of Cadbury India (1983/97) and continues to be presently its Chairman. In addition he is on the board of several renowned corporate like United Breweries, Aptech and Shriram Pistons.

Pal was President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1991-92 and was a member of the managing committee of Assocham from 1992 to 1996.

Mr. Pramod Khera: Mr. Khera is the executive director with Repro India Ltd, India’s largest 'value added print solutions' company. Prior to Repro, he served as CEO and MD of Aptech Ltd. He is well known in India as an IT industry expert, entrepreneur and author. His areas of expertise include franchising, education, marketing and software development. Khera is author of Franchising – The Route Map to Business Excellence, published in India by Tata McGraw Hill. Prior to leading Aptech to rapid worldwide growth, Khera pioneered teleshopping in India in the mid-1990s as founder and CEO of Tele-Shopping Network. He received his bachelor’s degree in technology from IIT-Delhi and his post-graduation from the IIM-Bangalore.

Mr. Ninad Karpe: Ninad Karpe is CEO & MD of Aptech Ltd, a global education company, which has trained more than 6.5 million students over the last 25 years and now operates 1,300-plus centres in India and China, as well as 40 emerging economies. Since joining the company in February 2009, Karpe has been aggressively pursuing a strategy to position Aptech Ltd on the world stage as a truly global provider of learning solutions. He previously served CA Technologies, the world’s fourth largest software vendor, as MD covering India & SAARC countries. In this post, Karpe was responsible for extending the company’s technology reach and building strategic partnerships. Earlier in his career, Karpe worked as a consultant, advising companies seeking to invest in India. During this time, he wrote a number of books on strategy, taxation and foreign investment in India. He frequently writes for newspapers, magazines and journals and is a well-known commentator on the education sector, in which capacity he often appears on prominent business TV channels. He also contributes to management schools by delivering presentations on business strategy.

Mr. Rajeev Manchanda: Mr. Manchanda, director, Inventure India, has over 15 years of experience as a management consultant assisting overseas companies to establish business in India. Inventure offers business consulting services with a focused objective to provide quality and result-oriented services which inter alia include services for setting up new business or enhancing existing business through franchising, joint venture, technology transfer, licensing, representations and mergers and acquisitions. Services offered include investment in India, outbound investment from India, representation of overseas companies in India, brand management and franchise consulting.

Mr. Richard M Rothman: Mr. Richard Rothman is the US Commercial Service officer incharge of the important Mumbai office. He began his assignment as principal commercial officer in Mumbai in 2008. Richard’s previous assignments include two tours in Jakarta, Indonesia, most recently as senior commercial officer; a previous tour in Mumbai as principal commercial officer; and Milan, Italy as deputy director of the US Trade Centre.

Prior to joining the Commercial Service, Rothman worked for several years as brand manager at Price Pfister Inc, a division of Black & Decker Corp.

Ms. Preeti Mehta: Ms. Mehta, senior partner of Kanga & Co, a leading law firm, has vast experience in mergers and acquisitions, foreign investments/collaborations, private equity and franchising. She is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the International Journal of Franchising Law. Mehta has contributed to the India Chapter of the International Encyclopedia of Franchising.

Mr. Amitabh Taneja: Mr. Taneja founded IMAGES Multimedia Pvt Ltd and serves as its Director. He serves as chairman of IMAGES Fashion Forum and India Retail Forum which host India's leading industry conferences in the respective fields. He has been non-executive independent director of Provogue (India) Limited since October 20, 2005. He has been independent director of Gini & Jony Limited since December 27, 2006. He has been an Independent Director of Liberty Shoes Ltd since December 17, 2005.
